During his working visit to Samarkand, the Secretary General of the Asian Swimming Federation, Mr. Taha Al-Kishri, held a meeting with the Deputy Khokim of the Samarkand Region - Khojayev Oybek Erkinovich, who is also the curator of water sports in the region.
According to the minutes of the meetings, having greeted each other, the parties proceeded to discuss the potential of the Samarkand region in the development of water sports, as well as its dissemination among the local population, increasing interest and popularization among amateurs. Oybek Erkinovich acquainted the guests with the number of existing swimming pools and the canal, which is expanding to engage not only in kayaking and canoeing, but also swimming in open water, during the conversation separately dwelling on the infrastructure being created near this canal.
The Secretary General of the Asian Swimming Federation praised the existing potential for development and the opportunity to popularize water sports, proposed a new project that could help attract even more people to swim in open water. At the end of the meeting, the parties thanking each other agreed to continue cooperation, in particular in the development of open water swimming, making the region a hub for this sport. In turn, Mr. Taha Al-Kishri promised to support the Swimming Federation of Uzbekistan in planning and organizing major competitions in our country.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the open canal where construction work is underway and the infrastructure around it is expanding. The study tour helped to determine the approximate dates for the commissioning of hotels and buildings along the coast of the canal. That was the end of the visit of the delegation.
